10.  Wayanad


Wayanad is the 12th District in Kerala state .Kalpetta is the district headquarters as well as the only municipal town in the district.was formed on 1 November 1980  by carving out areas from Kozhikode District and Kannur districts. The Folk etymology of the word says it is a combination of Naad (land)  and Vayal (paddy field)  making it ‘The Land of Paddy Fields’. There are many indigenous tribals in this area.



Kalpetta:It is the district headquarters of  Wayanad, is the only municipality in this hilly region.

Lakkidi: The gateway to Wayanad, Lakkidi is situated 700 m above sea level, at the crest of the Thamarasseri Ghat Pass (Thamarasseri  Churam).

Wayanad Wildlife Sanctuary: This is an animal sanctuary It is spread over 343 km² & It is Situated on the way from Mysore to Sultan Battery in Wayanad, Kerala.

Banasura Sagar Dam: This project is the largest earthern dam in India and the second largest in Asia.

Meenmutty falls: Meenmutty is the largest and most spectacular waterfall in Wayanad,An interesting 2 km jungle trek off the main Ooty road .

9.  Vagamon

Vagamon also known as the ‘Scotland of Asia’.Vagamon is a hill station situated 1,100 meters above sea level.It has a cool climate with the temperature between 10 and 23 °C during a summer midday. located in Kottayam-Idukki border of Kerala. National Geographic Traveler has added Vagamon on their directory of the ’50 most attractive places to visit in India.




 Kurisumala ( Mountain of the holy cross ):Kurisumala hill is a famous pilgrimage center for the Nazrani Catholics where cross put-up in each sub hill stations. This hill area includes 12 sub mounds where pilgrims visit.
Vagamon Meadows:  It has for long been a favorite location for shooting movie songs.

Pine Forests: A Beautiful valley having huge lofty pine trees lined in rows.

Murugan Hill:  A Murugan temple is situated which is devoted to Lord Muruga with gorgeous stone age carving.It is situated near to Thangal Para.

Indo-Swiss Project Diary Farms: It’s located on the Kurisumala hill. The dairy farm is managed by the Kurisumala monks.

Mooppanpara :It is a v-shaped canyon, one of the best admired view points as well acknowledged as a suicide point.

8.  Thrissur

Thrissur is also known as the Cultural Capital of Kerala.It houses the Kerala Lalithakala Akademi ,Kerala Sangeetha Nadaka Academy and Kerala Sahitya Academy.The city hosts the Thrissur Pooram festival.the most Beatiful and spectacular temple festival in Kerala State.

7.  Thiruvananthapuram

Thiruvananthapuram is the capital of the Indian state of Kerala and the headquarters of the Thiruvananthapuram District.Thiruvananthapuram  also known as Trivandrum. It is located on the west coast of India near the extreme south of the mainland.

6.  Thenmala

There are a large number of rubber and tea plantations in Thenmala.Thenmala is the meeting point of kollam-Shencottah road and Trivandrum-Shencottah road, surrounded by dense forest, 66 kms east of kollam. Timber of all varieties are exported from here to all parts of the India.

Idukki Arch Dam : Idukki Arch Dam is the world’s second and Asia’s first arch dam.Located across the Kuravan and Kurathi hills. 650 ft. wide and 550 ft. hight, the dam lies close to the Cheruthoni barrage.


3.  Kovalam


Kovalam is a beach town on the Arabian Sea located around 16 km from Trivandrum city, Kerala. It is also named as the paradise of the south. The word "Kovalam" means a grove of coconut trees and true to its name the village offers an endless sight of coconut trees.
