Windows 8 ships with restoration and a set of new backup tool just like a refresh option that we can keep our settings without any data loss ,during install the operating system on the Personal Computer.
Sometimes though a refresh may be not keeping all data that has previously been installed on your system. The refresh won’t restore desktop program that we have installed for instance.
Applications just like many desktop programs save data to the system when they are used. This may be the progress in a game that we have downloaded from Windows apps Store, playlists in a music app or custom profiles that you have set up in a photo editing app.
If you have another PC you can install the same set of applications in it. While that is easily done using the installed apps listing available in Windows Store and even means that some preferences, information and settings are synced automatically between devices.
But there is some limitations to the data that is synced. All applications have a max - roaming quota for instance which can block some data from being synchronized automatically.
There is also the situation where you need to re-install Windows but do not want to lose your app data and settings in the process. That’s where Windows 8 Apps Data Backup comes into play.
This is a fully free program for Windows 8 and Windows 8 Pro that we can use to backup data from all or some applications to our PC.
